Including the young X-Men
At some point, the younger X-Men are going to have to be the future of the franchise. This can’t happen if they aren’t put in the new stories and developed. Characters like Pixie, Rockslide, and Armor have helped the X-Men in the past, but they get lost in the shuffle after a while. This time around, the younger X-Men were put front and center where they should be.
The younger X-Men have been through a lot. They’ve watched as their friends lost their powers and struggled to cope and later witnessed their teammates get killed or tortured in front of them. All of those moments made them stronger. They learned how to overcome obstacles and how to grieve while staying strong.
The young X-Men aren’t ready for primetime just yet, but they’re on their way. Their development is crucial to the future of the franchise. Thankfully, we’ve seen it in action in this series. Armor is a perfect example. She’s stood up to the older X-Men when she felt they were wrong, protected her teammates when there was a major threat, and isn’t scared to put her life on the line. All of these are qualities needed to be an X-Man. This is just the beginning, and it’s a damn good start.
