Peni (Kimiko Glen), Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld), Spider-Ham (John Mulaney), Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), Peter Parker (Jake Johnson), Spider-Man Noir (Nicolas Cage) in Sony Pictures Animation’s SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse released to huge critical acclaim, so it wouldn’t come as a surprise if Sony decided to make a second one. But what characters should be included?

Let’s face it, we all loved Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Not only it had great action, amazing animation, and a touching story, but it also featured many of our favorite Spider-Men. This marked the very first time in a major Spider-Man movie where Peter Parker wasn’t the main character, and it was a refreshing change to see. Besides, it’s not every day that a movie features a talking pig as a character and manages to make it work pretty well. With that in mind, it’s safe to say Sony could use any Spider-Man they’d want for the sequel and still make it a hit.

But what characters should be included from all the different options available? There are some Spider-People that have pretty promising narratives to tell, and some others that would shake things up a little for good for good. So without further ado, here are the four Spider-Men we want to see in a Spider-Verse sequel!

4. Miguel O’Hara / Spider-Man 2099

Okay, we know, this one is kind of a no-brainer considering he appeared in the post-credits scene of the first movie. But there’s a good reason for him to be in this list (a reason that was also featured in the post-credits scene). With Kingpin’s Super Collider destroyed, there isn’t a way for Miles to reunite with either Gwen Stacy, Peter B. Parker, Spider-Man Noir, Peni Parker or Peter Porker… yet. Enter Miguel O’Hara, better known as Spider-Man 2099. As you could’ve guessed by his superhero name, he’s from the future (more specifically, from the year 2099). A distant place with technology good enough to, you know, travel between worlds!

More from Movies

He could be the one to reunite all the heroes to save space-time continuous once again. Besides, Miguel has dealt with multiple-dimension stories in the comics before, so he would be a really good fit.

In the comics, Miguel is an arrogant genius who seeks to create super-people once again. In his time there aren’t any superheroes left, and so after many experiments (some that even end up killing people) and a series of really bad events, he became the one and only Spider-Man. Like Miles, he has to learn how to be a super-hero and stand for the people. And even if Miguel wasn’t the focus of the story, he’d have plenty of good reasons to accompany our heroes in their next adventure.
