The cast of DC Comics characters appearing in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad has been revealed if a new report is to be believed.
There’s still some speculation when it comes to James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, but a new report from Collider may have revealed several of the new characters that will appear in the film.
Ratcatcher, known in the comics as Otis Flannegen, has been reinterpreted as a woman for The Suicide Squad. Before becoming a Batman villain, Ratcatcher was an exterminator with the ability to control rodents. Deadshot, according to the Collider report, plays the role of father figure to the character.
King Shark, the shark-man and rumored son of the shark god, joins the team, as well. The comics character has enjoyed recent fame, appearing in episodes of The Flash television series as recently as this week.

Gotham City lends the Squad another villain in the form of Polka-Dot Man/Mister Polka-Dot, a villain who grows polka dots on his body that he can weaponize into fireballs, according to the report.
The last addition to the Squad is Peacemaker a.k.a. Christopher Smith, who Collider describes as a pacifist that “love peace so much he would kill for it.”
The report also identifies Dave Bautista as James Gunn’s choice for the Peacemaker role. Bautista currently portrays Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise James Gunn wrote and directed for Marvel Studios before he was infamously fired last year by Disney. If these rumors pan out, the film could be a filmmaking reunion of sorts for the actor and director.
The Suicide Squad won’t arrive in theaters for another two years, so there is plenty of time for all of these rumors to change. However, if this eclectic cast of characters is any representation of the final product, it’s clear that Warner Bros. is looking to capitalize on the ragtag quality of James Gunn’s previous efforts at Marvel.
The Suicide Squad has a release date of August 6, 2021.
