DC Universe’s Titans finds its Deathstroke in Esai Morales
It’s official, season two of DC Universe’s Titans has finally found its Deathstroke in Esai Morales.
The second season of DC Universe’s inaugural live-action series, Titans, is making strides to beat the first season. Reports of their arch nemesis, Deathstroke and his family joining the series surfaced back in January. Of course, fans began speculating on who would play Slade Wilson.
According to Deadline, Titans has found its Deathstroke in actor Esai Morales. Morales is known for his roles in Superfly and shows like Ozark and How to Get Away with Murder. Playing a bad guy isn’t unfamiliar to Morales, in each of the aforementioned series’, he played a wealthy, shady, or deadly antagonist.
However, unlike his other characters, Slade is a former military man and one DC Comics’ deadliest assassins. Like his comic book counterpart, Slade is both a father and superhuman hired gun.
Morales isn’t the first actor to play a live-action Slade Wilson. However, at 59, he is oldest of the three actors to play the character. Manu Bennett (49) played him on Arrow. The Titans creators have an opportunity to depict a more comic accurate version than what we saw on Arrow.

The other actor to play Deathstroke was Joe Manganiello (42). His Deathstroke cameoed in Justice League’s post-credits scene. There isn’t much known about Maganiello’s Deathstroke, but there were reports that Warner Bros was developing a Deathstroke solo film.
Nevertheless, whether or not we actually get a solo movie doesn’t matter. There’s so much more to Slade Wilson than what we’ve seen thus far. Because Titans is a series not bound by network TV, the series is sure to depict the most comic book accurate version of the anti-villain.
"“Slade Wilson is known for being DC’s deadliest assassin. While serving his country, Slade became an elite soldier before government testing enhanced his physiology to near superhuman levels, putting him on a path of darkness and revenge. To his family, Slade is a father and husband, but to the rest of the world, he is feared by many as the infamous Deathstroke; selling his services to the highest bidder as the ruthless assassin that never gives up and never misses.”"
Now that Slade Wilson has been cast, we await the next wave of Wilson family members to join the series. Ravenger and Jericho are also set to join Titans’ second season.
