Atom Smasher is scripted to appear in Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Black Adam movie, but who could play the oversized Justice League hero?

It seems that the script for the independent Black Adam film has officially been penned, and it is set to include appearances from a handful of Justice League staples. Hawkman, Stargirl, and the not-as-popular Atom Smasher have all been given speaking lines in the new DCEU project, which means that each of them may be apart of a bigger picture for the universe.

Atom Smasher has been in the Justice League several times since his inception, usually serving as added muscle for the group due to his ability to grow to extreme heights. His strength and size makes him an obvious sparring partner for Black Adam, but the role requires an actor that is in impeccable physical condition.

While Atom Smasher is not the most notable superhero in the DC Universe, his entrance into the DCEU will likely signal him joining the Justice League, meaning that an actor with excellent talent as well as an unbelievable  body would have to be cast. Here are a few options that fit that exact description, and every one of them may just be considered, eventually!

1. Paul Wesley

Paul Wesley is known to the masses through his role as Stefan Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries, but what has always stood out about him is how ridiculously muscular he is. Starring in one of the most popular television shows in recent history and being in as good of shape as he is, it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see Wesley in the running for the character.

The only stipulation may be that the studio is looking for an actor between the ages of 20 and 29. However, when it comes to being in peak physical condition as well as being an excellent actor, the age range may need to be expanded just a bit. Wesley would make a wonderful addition to the Justice League, and his performance as Atom Smasher is sure to contend with the likes of Dwayne Johnson and Zachary Levi’s respective characters.

2. Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson

While this may not be the direction in which DC wants to go with Atom Smasher, it doesn’t get much more physically imposing than Game of Thrones‘ Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson — better known as “The Mountain.” Sure, Björnsson is not necessarily known for his acting prowess, but he could easily out-muscle the likes of “The Rock.”

At only 30 years old, he is a year out of the age range that DC is reportedly looking to cast, but his size and body speak for themselves. He may be able to deliver a few lines in the role and, if he isn’t able to act as well as his co-stars, then a voice actor could be assigned to accompany him behind the mask.

3. KJ Apa

KJ Apa has gained fame within the last few years due to his role as Archie Andrews on Riverdale and has become the face of the Archie Comics series for a new generation. Being such a high-profile TV star, it is no secret that Apa can act, but a mainstay of his career so far has been his chiseled body.

Even though he is only 21 years old, Apa is quite possibly in better shape than Zachary Levi or Ben Affleck. He could be a pleasant surprise for fans to see in Black Adam, and his Atom Smasher would likely be a character many would remember.

4. Lucas Till

More from DCEU

Dedicated X-Men fans will likely recognize Lucas Till as Scott Summers’ temperamental older brother, Alex, placing him on a high shelf when it comes to superhero fans. Although he has his hands full with the leading role in MacGyver, there’s a good chance that Atom Smasher will only be in the movie for enough time to go a couple of rounds with Black Adam, and Till could plan accordingly for any future DC projects.

As far as his physicality goes, just look at the man! He’s built like a brick house and, while he’s not the tallest actor in the world, Atom Smasher will grow to soaring heights regardless. He is the type of young, muscular, and handsome actor that the studio is likely looking to cast, and Till is popular enough to fit right into the bigger picture of the DC Universe.

5. Daniel Cudmore

Daniel Cudmore (pictured left) should also be recognizable to X-Men fans, as he is often referred to as the “real” Colossus. Standing at a towering 6’7″ tall, Cudmore is head taller than Dwayne Johnson, and will likely be much larger than whoever is cast as Hawkman.

It is no secret that his physicality is his best asset, but Cudmore is no slouch in the acting department, either. He has bounced around from gentle giants to malicious villains, and could fit into whatever mold the studio may want to adhere to Atom Smasher. Even though he is already 38, he looks much younger than he really is and would be just as good as any of the other men on this list.
