Black Widow: David Harbour and Rachel Weisz in talks to join Marvel film
By Erik Swann
The cast of Marvel’s Black Widow is growing, as the film is reportedly tapping two major stars to join.
With Marvel’s Black Widow quickly headed towards its production start date, more details are steadily being revealed about the project. Casting rumors have been floating around for a while, and some have yet to be confirmed. But now, one of those rumors has been confirmed, as the film has picked up two major stars.
THR reports that David Harbour is in talks to join the cast of Black Widow. In addition, Rachel Weisz is also in final negotiations to join the project, according to Variety. The actress was originally rumored to be on Marvel’s radar. Naturally, details on both roles have not been revealed, and Marvel Studios had no comment on either casting.
The pair will join a cast that already includes Marvel veteran Scarlett Johansson and Fighting with My Family star Florence Pugh. Cate Shortland is directing the film from a screenplay by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson. Filming is currently slated to begin in London this summer.

Harbour is no stranger (sorry) to the action, superhero or sci-fi genres. The actor is, of course, best known for his Emmy-nominated role as Chief Jim Hopper on the hit Netflix series, Stranger Things. This month, he’ll also make his comic book movie debut when he plays the titular character in Hellboy.
Weisz has had a lengthy career, starring in numerous films like The Constant Gardner, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Most recently, she was nominated in the same category for her performance in The Favourite. Despite having done more intimate films, Weisz also made a name for herself in blockbusters, including the superhero genre. This role would be her first foray into the genre since she appeared in 2005’s Constantine.
Black Widow is starting to take shape and, after these new pick-ups, interest in this upcoming chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is likely to grow.
