Captain Marvel: $1 billon and beyond at the box office
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has another huge player at the box office in Captain Marvel.
Captain Marvel, the 21st entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the first with a woman in the leading role, has crossed another box office threshold.
The first MCU film set in the 1990s (1995 specifically) has officially made over $1 billion at the worldwide box office.
This news was first reported by Variety.
While Box Office Mojo numbers haven’t been updated in several days, Variety reports that the film has garnered $358 million domestically, with another $645 million coming from overseas.
This makes Captain Marvel the seventh MCU movie to cross the $1 billion mark, following Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther, The Avengers, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Iron Man 3.
Variety adds that it is the 18th Disney-related film overall to earn over $1 billion.

Closing out the top 10 are Spider-Man: Homecoming and Guardians of the Galaxy.
Worldwide, Captain Marvel is seventh overall in the MCU box office rankings, while adjusted for inflation, it falls just outside the top 10 in 11th place.
Captain Marvel is a slow-paced mystery of how Air Force pilot Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) discovers the powers infused within her, both mentally from a childhood overcoming adversity, and physically, due to a plane crash during a test flight.
The cast also includes Samuel L Jackson, Jude Law, Ben Mendohlson, Annette Bening and Lashana Lynch.
How Carol will figure in Avengers: Endgame remains to be seen, but we have some ideas. To see how accurate they are, we’ll have to wait until Endgame releases on April 26.
