16 months after The Last Jedi, Star Wars released its trailer for Episode IX, the final part of the third trilogy.

Since 2015, Disney has pushed its chips in on the Star Wars franchise. It already produced The Force Awakens, Rogue One, The Last Jedi and Solo. Reactions have varied on them, and Solo was a box office disappointment, but the projects will continue with The Mandalorian and the Cassian Andor television series on Disney Plus.

However, there is one more film to fill out Star Wars’ third trilogy: the officially untitled Episode IX. Set for release on Dec. 20, 2019, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac will all reprise their roles for one last go-around.

Well, not even 24 hours after Disney revealed detailed for their streaming service, it released the first trailer and the official title for Episode IX.

It’s fascinating first footage of the next Star Wars installment, even if it showed little. The title will draw its own reaction, as well, whether positive or negative, and Star Wars fans have proven to be vocal over the past three years.

Frankly, with the film still eight months away, showcasing more than a one or teases was plenty. It wets the appetite of viewers clamoring to know more about Episode IX or to just have a piece of content to analyze, criticize — The Last Jedi was loaded with this — or praise.

JJ Abrams will also return as director of Episode IX. He helmed the return film, The Force Awakens, in 2015, which became a box office sensation.

The end of another Star Wars trilogy is ahead. This might not be the last film of this franchise to ever release, but it will end the arc of Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron and the remaining characters linked to the original three films set in the 1970s and 1980s.
