Rumor: She-Hulk TV series coming to Disney Plus
Sounds like the Disney Plus streaming service is going to be a lot greener with a rumored She-Hulk TV series in play.
With the announcement of a host of limited web-television series to hit the Disney Plus streaming service such as Loki, Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision, it seems Netflix, Amazon Prime and mid-tier video-on-demand services like DC Universe may have a new challenger on their hands. Now, there is news of another limited TV series, reported by We Got This Covered, and it’s a Hulk/She-Hulk team-up series. Yeah, that’s right. Dr. Banner’s gamma-irradiated cousin, Jennifer Walters, could be coming to the small screen.

Since at least The Avengers, in terms of a sequel to 2008’s The Incredible Hulk according to Kevin Feige, there have been no plans for another standalone Hulk movie. As many know by now, Disney/Marvel does not have distribution rights to make a standalone Hulk film. Those rights are held by Universal Pictures. While there have been rumblings of a Hulk sequel in the cards, since Avengers: Age of Ultron, a character arc has been charted for Banner starting with Thor: Ragnarok and culminating in this month’s Avengers: Endgame.
If the rumors are true and there is in fact a team-up miniseries on the way, then it means Hulk does in fact survive the final assault against the Mad Titan, Thanos. As Disney Plus will be closely tied to the MCU films than most live-action series centered around that shared universe on TV, the chances of Ruffalo reprising his role as Banner and his alter-ego are quite strong.
She-Hulk, as a character, has the potential to go in many directions. There is no certainty as to what kind of red tape permits Disney in doing this, as Universal owns the rights to She-Hulk, as well as all Hulk-related characters. If they were to follow the same origin, the circumstances in which Walters were to become the single, green-skinned heroine may need to be updated. A chance, life–defining blood transfusion, while dramatic, is too coincidental. That’s not to say that the transfusion aspect should be removed all together, but including the gangsters who were hired to eliminate Walters in the first place doesn’t leave room for much levity.
