A Glimpse into the Future for Thompson and the West Coast Avengers!
If this is the end, what is next for Thompson at Marvel? She’s currently writing Captain Marvel on the heels of the franchise’s film debut, while also at the helm of Mr. & Mrs. X. The latter sold better than WCA in February 2019, but not by much. At this point the only major Marvel heroine that Thompson has expressed interest in on social media that she hasn’t written is She-Hulk. Considering Jen’s appeared in A-Force and Captain Marvel, that’s not for lack of trying!

In the short term, it won’t be the end for the WCA, due to the War Of The Realms crossover. Kate Bishop will appear in the War Of The Realms: Journey Into Mystery mini series thru June. The rest of her team will pop up in two issues of Superior Spider-Man (starring Doc Ock in a cloned body of Peter Parker spliced with his own DNA) that month as well. Beyond that, who knows?
Regardless, Thompson really cemented a voice for herself with Kate Bishop, and it will be a shame to see it all end. Out of everyone at Marvel, Kate seemed to cater to her skills like no other. Fans of quirky comics or Defenders style oddball teams should take aim with this series in trade!
