Who died in Avengers: Endgame?

Who faced their bitter end in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame? Major spoilers are ahead.

Well, the time has come for us to sit through a movie that was eleven years in the making: Avengers: Endgame.

As it was mentioned many times in the film, and its trailers: part of the journey is the end. So it’s with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart that these Avengers fell:

The film took an expected turn and revolved around time travel, with all six original Avengers plus Scott Lang (Ant-Man), Rhodey, Nebula, and Rocket joining in to help the team go back in time to get the six Infinity Stones. That seems like a difficult mission on its own and then add in the factor about what it takes to get the Soul Stone.

So..Natasha’s getting a solo movie, so she’s safe, right? Wrong.

Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) and Clint Barton (Hawkeye) take on the mission to retrieve the Soul Stone on Vormir. If you recalled from Infinity War, the Soul Stone requires “a soul for a soul.” Clint and Natasha fight over who gets to sacrifice themselves for the stone, and Natasha was the one who won that battle, only to lose her life in return for the stone.

The only question from this: Will Black Widow’s movies be prequels because she’s…dead now?

More from Marvel Cinematic Universe

Tony Stark was the second fallen hero in Endgame. In the film, the team successfully got all six stones and saved everyone – leaving only Thanos and his army on the list of “Things To Destroy To Save The Universe.”

After some back and forth, Thanos got hold of the gauntlet and stated “I am inevitable” before he attempted another Snap. The Snap doesn’t work, and Thanos suddenly realizes Tony stole the Infinity Stones right from under his nose. Tony puts on the stones around his hand with his suit on and says his famous line, “I am Iron Man,” before snapping away Thanos and his entire army. The gamma radiation is most likely what killed him right then and there.

Tony was found by Rhodey after the Snap, with Peter Parker swinging in not too long after, and last but not least, Pepper Potts, who told Tony, “You can finally rest now,” right before the arc-reactor on Tony’s chest chillingly went dark. Steve, Thor, and the rest of the Avengers watch close by with tears in their eyes.

Both Natasha and Tony played essential roles in the last decade, and the MCU will surely not be the same without them. They made a significant impact on the franchise, and it will be interesting to see how Marvel will go on without the man who started it all after Avengers: Endgame.
