Kingsman: The Great Game is being moved forward by Disney/Fox thanks to a VP at FOX films.

Kingsman: The Great Game, the prequel in the Matthew Vaughn-helmed Kingsman franchise, is moving forward following the complete acquisition of 21st Century Fox by The Walt Disney Company in March. The Hollywood Reporter highlighted that The Great Game will be one of the films greenlit between December 2018 and January 2019 that will be pushing ahead.

The reason for Disney deciding to back The Great Game and the still ongoing, untitled Kingsman 3 is due to 20th Century FOX vice chairman and president, Emma Watts, who has made herself at home at Disney since the merger.

Watts, who is one of the key figures behind the scenes of Marvel-related properties such as Logan and Deadpool  and other films like Gone Girl and the rebooted Planet of the Apes trilogy, now answers to film studio chief Alan Horn. It remains to be seen how things will play out regarding the survival of other Fox films at Disney.

Since the Disney-Fox merger was completed, the Fox chief has discarded films, such as the tentpole Mouse Guard, News of the World and the Angie Thomas adaptation On the Come Up through Paramount. One Fox film that is certain to go through the House of Mouse is Avatar 2, which completed shooting this month.
