How will Avengers: Endgame affect Spider-Man: Far From Home?

As expected, Avengers: Endgame is going to have an interesting effect on Peter Parker’s world in Spider-Man: Far From Home? Spoilers lie ahead.

Avengers: Endgame not only had lasting effects on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, but also on the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole. One person who was directly affected was Peter Parker, who was restored to life near the end of the film. However, the young hero will face a very different world in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

With Endgame featuring a five-year time jump, some were left confused when they saw a newly revived Peter reunite with an unaged Ned. Co-director Joe Russo, speaking with EW, confirmed that Ned was also a causality of the Snap:

"“So… Ned disappeared as well. That’s the two of them seeing each other for the first time after having disappeared.”"

This explains why Ned is a still a teenager when he sees his best friend again. And based on the Far From Home trailer, we can assume other characters like MJ and Flash Thompson were also decimated at the hands of Thanos. Despite many of Peter’s friends still being in high school, there’s a firm possibility some of them were not dusted and, as a result, aged and graduated, a point Joe Russo also brings up:

"“There could be kids who are now much older than them and no longer in high school. But Ned and he both disappeared and are returning in that moment.”"

While the core characters are still around, Peter’s other classmates like Abraham, Cindy and Charles are nowhere to be found. Admittedly, they may be in the sequel, and just haven’t been shown yet. Nevertheless, there’s a real chance they lived through the five years between Infinity War and Endgame.

The battle against Thanos has altered the wall-crawler’s world in a few different ways. Not only could he be without some of his peers, but he will also be without his late mentor, Tony Stark. This will make things even more interesting for him, as he embarks on his international adventure.
