Hulu adds to their growing Marvel queue with the announcement of both a Ghost Rider and Helstrom series!

It seems, where as Netflix took a more gritty look at the Marvel Universe, Hulu wants to explore the more mystical side with both  Ghost Rider and Helstrom series set to launch in 2020. The two shows will join the streaming service’s growing stable of Marvel content.

Fans of Agents of SHIELD can fill with excitement as it seems that the Ghost Rider series will focus on Robbie Reyes, with Gabriel Luna reprising the role. The fan favorite actor also tweeted out his excitement for the project:

The series will feature a new version of the character, and is not connected to the one featured in Agents of SHIELD, albeit with a similar story as is the Ghost Rider mythos. The series will follow Robbie Reyes; a man bound to a supernatural force, that he cannot fully control, who exacts vengeance on behalf of terrorized innocents as an antihero. All while trying to resist the darker nature of his powers.

Though this will be a new start with the character, with such a great casting choice and the same executive producers as Agents of SHIELD behind it, Marvel’s Ghost Rider is setting up for a strong launch, and it could be a great addition to Hulu’s roster.

The more curious choice is Helstrom, as this will be the first attempt at a series for that property. The series is set to follow Daimon and Ana Helstrom; siblings who are the children of a serial killer who track down “the worst of humanity.”  In the comics, these characters are known as the “Children of the Devil,” have even ruled over Hell itself, and even have some ties to the Dr. Strange villain Dommamu.

It’s a bit uncertain what form of mysticism will be displayed in these shows, as they probably aren’t tied to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and won’t need to display the similar forms, as Robbie Reyes did on Agents of SHIELD. But with both a Ghost Rider and Helstrom series, it’s clear Hulu is gearing up to venture into the darker side of the Marvel Universe.
