3. It honors the OG Laurel’s legacy

Per episode eighteen’s flash-forward, Laurel goes on to become a Canary and wears the OG Laurel’s suit, given to her by Felicity. However, that it is not the only way in which Felicity and Earth-2 Laurel friendship’s honors Earth-1 Laurel’s legacy.

The OG Laurel always saw the best in people, especially when they didn’t see it in themselves (Sara, Thea, Oliver, Nyssa, Quentin, Tommy). And whether as the DA, as the Black Canary or as a friend, she always went out of her way to help people who couldn’t help themselves or, more often, were too afraid or ashamed to ask for help.

This season, Earth-2 Laurel and Felicity have done the same for each other. Laurel twice stopped Felicity from killing Diaz in episodes six and fourteen by recognizing what Felicity really wanted: not revenge but reassurance that she could keep her family safe. Likewise, Felicity stopped Laurel from going through with the heist in episode eighteen by recognizing what Laurel really wanted: not money but reassurance that she wasn’t alone.
