Some Real “Notes from Underground!”

Arguably just as great as the issue itself is the editorial section. For the next seven issues, IDW will offer “an oral history” where the writers and artists behind this run will go over some of their planning processes as they crafted each year. This issue went over the first batch of issues from 2011, when the license was freshly acquired and the decision to have Eastman on the founding floor was made. The revelations about Old Hob and Raph’s early time with Casey are compelling.

2019 will be a big year for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This series will reach its 100th issue, a landmark for any comic book series at any publisher. The franchise will celebrate its 35th year, and their first team-up with Batman will be immortalized on home video! And despite eight years and almost a triple digit issue count, this series remains just as compelling, well plotted, and action packed as it ever was. In fact, it arguably is better now than in its first year or two, which is a commendable feat. It remains one of the worst kept secrets in comics, as a faithfully terrific licensed comic every single month. Mixing tradition with innovation, it’s a Ninja Turtle run for all time!
