DC Comics’ Naomi has parents’ origin revealed

Naomi’s parent’s origin is finally revealed in DC Comics’ latest issue.

After being told that she’s not from Earth, Naomi immediately goes to see her best friend Anna. Something we’d all do if someone dropped a bomb like this on us. Naomi asked if Anna had any secrets. Again, we all would if we found out one of our parents is an alien and so is the town mechanic. After Anna joked for a bit Naomi puts her hands together and unleashes her new supersuit and she floats in the air. Naomi then tells Anna she’s an alien. Naomi then tells her the story of who her parents were.

We’ve been waiting a little while to find out about Naomi’s parents and if she had powers. The answers didn’t disappoint. First, we find out that Naomi isn’t exactly an alien. She isn’t from that Earth, but she’s from an alternate Earth. We saw Naomi hold a box at the end of issue No. 4. That box entered her body. She then heard her mother’s voice tell her the story of how she came to be.

An event they called Crisis caused a crack in the lining separating realities. Radiation came and gave 29 people on her planet powers. Some of them used them for good while others wanted to be gods. Among those people was a guy named Zumbado. He wanted to rule everything and destroy anyone who crossed, as they put it, an imaginary line in his head. Her parents died so that Naomi could have a better life. The last things her parents say is for her to try to do good every day an that they want her to be happy and in love. Naomi puts her hands together and revealed her powers to her parents.

Just as things were going good, something weird happens. Naomi forgets how she got to Anna and that she had a uniform. Before they could figure things out Zumbado appears and it doesn’t look like he’s arrived to give her a tutorial on her powers.

What’s next for Naomi?

  • What exactly are Naomi’s powers? All we know is that she can fly (or hover) and she produces light.
  • How powerful is she? She could be as strong as Superman for all we know?
  • Who else in that town has a secret? It’s doubtful it’s only their small group with a secret.
  • There’s no way anther hero didn’t notice Zumbado entering their dimension. Even money says Naomi and Superman have a team-up.
