Captain Marvel directors speak on a possible A-Force film
By Erik Swann
Captain Marvel’s Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck discuss the chances of them taking on an A-Force movie.
Fans have been clamoring for an A-Force movie for a while now, and this desire only increased after the superheroines appeared together in Avengers: Endgame. While there’s still no official movement on the project, it’s not out of the realm of possibility. And as the directors of Captain Marvel, the first female-led film from Marvel Studios, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck could be viewed as potential candidates for the job.
The directing duo was asked by Comic Book Movie if they would consider directing an A-Force film if offered the project. The two laughed off the possibility, but Fleck says they look forward to seeing what the future holds for all of the characters:
"“Are you offering us a job? [Laughs]. I think we’re fans of all these characters just like everyone else and we’re just as excited to see what the potential is for all of them moving forward.”"

A superpowered team-up may not be in the cards for their own cosmic hero, Captain Marvel, anytime soon, but they do think she has plenty of potential going forward. More immediately, they were pleased with her appearance in Endgame. Boden, in particular, had a visceral reaction to Danvers’ entrance during the film’s third act:
"“I mean, [Endgame] is one of my favorite movies. I loved it so much. It was such a rush to see her in that film when she comes in during the third act for that final battle, I literally almost jumped out of my seat and I definitely screamed very loudly [Laughs]. It was really exciting.”"
Boden and Fleck don’t currently seem to be interested in tackling A-Force, but there’s still a chance they could change their minds at some point. And even if they don’t end up taking it on, there are plenty of other directors who would be strong fits for the project.
As of right now, there’s been no indication as to if or when the film will be greenlit. Still, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has stated that more female-led movies are on the way. Marvel actresses like Brie Larson and Tessa Thompson are also keen to see an all-female team-up film. With solid momentum behind it, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to think that A-Force could happen sometime soon.
