Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult are reportedly undergoing screen tests for the role of Batman in Matt Reeves’ upcoming film.
While Robert Pattinson appeared to be a shoe-in for Batman, it looks like Nicholas Hoult isnot out of the hunt for the role. And according to a new report, both actors are currently engaging in a crucial part of the casting process.
According to TheWrap’s Umberto Gonzalez, both Pattinson and Hoult are currently screen testing for the lead role in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Gonzalez also reports that the two are likely screen testing in the Batsuit:

As an official casting announcement draws closer, this latest development makes plenty of sense. When it comes to movies, particularly superhero films, screen tests are vital, as they give the directors, writers and producers a greater sense of how not only an actor performs in a role, but how they look on screen as a particular character. This explains why Pattinson and Hoult are likely doing their tests while wearing Batsuits.
It’s also important to mention that if they are, in fact, wearing costumes, they’re likely not the final design. It would likely just be a placeholder costume, with the final costume be finished closer to production and presented to the chosen actor.
With screen tests underway, it’s safe to assume Warner Bros. and Matt Reeves will make a final casting decision very soon. And it would be an understatement to say that fans are anxious to find out who will don the cape and cowl next.
As the reported frontrunner, Robert Pattinson has drawn a somewhat mixed response, with some praising his casting and others not being in favor of it. Meanwhile, Nicolas Hoult has emerged as a dark horse, who is drawing similar fan reactions. Nevertheless, both have the potential to deliver a Batman that audiences haven’t seen on the big screen before.
