Side books with a purpose
Crossover events sometimes have tie-ins in other comics. Civil War had so many that it seemed impossible to buy and read them all. Nevertheless, they were there. These tie-ins answer questions that readers may have. For example, what happened to certain heroes while the main title was going on? Why weren’t they involved? They can sometimes be a bit much. War of the Realms has more than a few crossovers. However, they’ve all been incredibly entertaining and not only that, they’ve created teams that could be used in the future.

The War Avengers (War Of The Realms Strikeforce: The War Avengers) squad was put together out of desperation. Captain Marvel, Deadpool, Sif, Weapon H, Winter Soldier, Black Widow (yep, she’s alive), Venom, and Captain Britain have teamed up to help save the world. Hopefully, this won’t be the last we see of them. They deserve a kind of book where they can do all of the dirty work that the public teams can’t.
Then there’s War of the Realms: Journey Into Mystery. Kate Bishop, Miles Morales, Wonder Man, Balder, Sebastian Druid, Death Locket, and Thori have teamed up so protect a baby. If that’s not bad enough, Ares is closing in on them. None of them have worked together, but worked together anyway. It was cool seeing Balder and Kate talk about her being leader and Balder telling her she’s doing a great job.
This series has already become on of the great and it’s not over yet. It’ll be fun to see how the results of this story affect the Marvel Universe going forward.
