Selina Kyle displays her incredible driving skills in Catwoman No. 12
By Scott Brown
Catwoman continues to evade the police in her attempts to escape and protect her neighbor Carlos from getting into trouble with the law. Spoilers for Catwoman No. 12 follow.
Picking up almost immediately from the events of Catwoman No. 11, Selina and Carlos have stolen a cop car and are in a high-speed pursuit in the Villa Hermosa aqueducts. Completely outnumbered by the police cars chasing them, Selina does the thing that does best, trickery. She manages to trick several cops into crashing their vehicles, giving Carlos enough time to call in a favor, which helps them escape.

During this time though, Carlos is thinking about the events that led him to this place, which gives the audience more background as to what is happening in the story. It turns out that Selina had stolen an item that was a portion of a map the potentially leads to a great prize, so a plan is hatched, which is where James the forger comes into play. They have him forge the mask that is the second half of the map and then create a plan to steal it at an auction for it. Selina does so flawlessly, but this leads to where the story began, with Carlos attempting to steal money out of an armored truck.

The three then head back to Selina’s apartment after escaping from the police but, when they arrive, they notice that something is wrong. Carlos runs back into the room, telling Selina that his aunt has been kidnapped by none other than Raina Creel. They run out of her apartment as the map begins to glow.
Catwoman as a series has very much has its ups and downs throughout its run so far. With this issue though, it continues a positive upward trend for the series. It still has a long way to go to become great, but it’s slowly becoming consistently good. The writing is finally beginning to catch up to the great art that has permeated the series so far.
7.5/10
Catwoman No. 12 continues the positive trend that the series has been on as of late, and it makes for an enjoyable read.
