DC Comics shares first look at new Batman/Superman series
By Monita Mohan
This August, Batman and Superman team up to battle the Batman Who Laughs and his horsemen in the latest DC Comics series.
The Caped Crusader and the Man of Steel team up in new DC Comics series from Joshua Williamson and artist David Marquez. Spinning out of Scott Snyder and Jocks’ The Batman Who Laughs, which will conclude in July, Batman/Superman features the two leads uncovering the secret six heroes who have been turned evil by the Batman Who Laughs’ toxin:
"To launch the new DC series, the first arc of BATMAN/SUPERMAN will follow the two titular heroes as they hunt down six infected heroes in the DCU—people revealed to be infected by the Batman Who Laughs with a deadly pathogen that violently transforms them into the evilest versions of themselves. The Dark Knight and the Man of Steel must journey into the depths of Gotham City to learn which of their fellow heroes has been transformed into the horrifying horseman of their most dangerous and deranged foe ever."
DC has shared a preview of the series with cover art by Marquez and Alejandro Sánchez. In the preview, Batman and Superman are investigating the disappearance of a boy named Danny Mills, and their search has led them to the Batman Who Laughs’ Batcave. As Superman points out in the preview, the Batcave is a reflection of the Caped Crusader’s personality – Batman’s cave pays tribute to his victories and losses, so what does the Batman Who Laughs’ Batcave reveal about the evil villain?
Batman knows his evil doppelgänger well enough to second guess the villain’s every move. When the duo stumble upon the Batman Who Laughs’ plan to infect all of the DC Universe’s superheroes with his pathogen, Batman can’t help but wonder if the villain’s scheme is already underway.
