Cheap Tips and a Decision on the Star!

In fact, this arc has been so underwhelming that it’s only memorable graces may be those odd moments many stories have. The cover, drawn by Stefano Caselli, features Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel swapping powers, not bodies. Clearly he didn’t have enough of the plot when the cover was drawn, yet even that may have been a more interesting story! And then there’s the bit where Dr. Rosario and the pair put off medial treatment or resolving the crisis just to order a pizza. What are they, the Ninja Turtles? In addition, Yesenia only paid $8.25 for a pie. In NYC, a plain pizza pie CAN be had at some parlors for $8, but that means that some poor delivery person was tipped a measly quarter. And here readers thought only super villains were cheap!

The art by Joey Vasquez and Moy R. is fast paced and energetic. It fits a mainstream superhero comic brilliantly. The shame of it is that with a bit of a better plot, their art (with Sobreiro’s colors) would have popped even more. Even the Jackal has a design that is far too simple for most artists to have much fun with. The action sequences are great, even if they are brief. On the whole, it has been a great show of visuals for this team, even if the story itself may not be as memorable.

Finally, comes the advertisement for the next issue. It showcases the direction this series is in. Despite the historical connection, Spider-Man won’t be the star this time around. Apparently, it will be Ms. Marvel, who turns up for another team-up. Considering she’s still a novice superhero, and her name’s in the title, it makes sense. Unfortunately, the team-up is another one which has been done before — Kamala with Captain Marvel. While it is rare for heroines to have female sidekicks, it does risk yet another team-up which has been seen better elsewhere.
