Avengers: Endgame to reveal post-credit scene, ‘surprises’ in re-release

Avengers: Endgame did not have a post-credit scene, or so everyone thought.

Avengers: Endgame only launched domestically on April 26, booming to over $2.5 billion at the box office. It closed one chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and set up a post-world without landmark characters.

Sometimes, movies return to theaters. It is not unusual. However, for one to have another wide release fewer than two months after it screened in theaters worldwide? Unusual, but Disney and Marvel Studios are prepared to do this.

Per Deadline, Marvel’s Kevin Feige announced that Avengers: Endgame will have a re-release in theaters on June 28. For reason to see the film again, a “new post-credits scene, a tribute and a few surprises” are in store. However, it is not considered an “extended cut” of the film.

What could this mean? Marvel could drop hints at the future of the MCU, teasing who will dominate the next part of this movie empire. The Eternals and Shang-Chi are among the planned parts of Phase 4.

Maybe an extra scene or two are added for Black Panther or Doctor Strange, both of whom are potentially in line for sequels.

It could just be a ploy to get moviegoers back to help Endgame cross the $3 billion threshold, but re-releasing this film so soon after its worldwide reveal should pack a worthwhile punch that pushes the MCU forward; perhaps even teasing the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, which arrives days later.

If this garners enough interest, who knows how much money Marvel will make off Endgame in a second go-around. The film is still fresh, so this could be another box office boon.
