If there’s an actress more qualified to carry a film by herself under the age of 21, show me. It’s safe to see, 20-year old Amandla Stenberg has Academy Award written all over her. While most superhero films aren’t award-worthy, the story of Riri Williams could warrant it.
The tragic story of Riri’s childhood deserves the focus as a driving force behind her heroics. A character driven film that displays the heart of ten could be game changing for the MCU. An actress of Stenberg’s caliber could capture the essence of a dramatic story.
Since having her name tossed around the internet as a child star on the rise, Stenberg hasn’t disappointed. Over the past two years, she cemented her name in Hollywood as a young great actress.
Especially after The Hate U Give which received critical praise. Stenberg starred portrayed Starr Carter, a girl from the hood who went to school in a suburban area. After witnessing the fatal shooting of her childhood friend by the hands of a police officer, Starr takes a stand.
The passion she brought to the role of Star is exactly what’s needed for Riri. If the MCU wants someone closer to the age that Tom Holland was in Spider-Man, Stenberg’s an ideal fit.
