Tom Holland wants to see Spider-Man join forces with the Sorcerer Supreme in a team-up film.

In the pages of Marvel comics, Spider-Man teamed up with numerous heroes, ranging from the Fantastic Four to Shang-Chi. Tom Holland is hoping the same will be true for his version of the wall-crawler, and he already has his sights set on a hero.

Holland caught up with CinemaBlend and revealed that he would like to see team-up film featuring Spider-Man and Doctor Strange. The actor likes that both characters are New Yorkers, but adhere to different ideologies:

"“I’m really wanting to do a team-up with Doctor Strange, because we’re both New Yorkers and I just really like the idea of a science guy being teamed up with a guy who does magic, because it totally contradicts everything he knows.”"

Going into more detail, Holland loves the notion of mixing Peter Parker’s knowledge of actual science and Stephen Strange’s mastery of the mystic arts:

"“And I like the idea that there is real science that Peter Parker talks about, and then there’s Doctor Strange gibberish, where he’s like ‘The time rift and the thing and the thing.’ So it’s kind of fun.”"

More from Marvel Cinematic Universe

Spider-Man and Doctor Strange had more than their share of adventures in Marvel Team-Up in the ’70s. Most of the stories involved the duo going up against a supernatural force, which was a significant change of pace for the web-slinger. But over time, the two heroes began to respect each other and better understand each other’s worldviews. This endearing relationship also expanded to animation in the 1990s series, Spider-Man, and Ultimate Spider-Man.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Parker/Strange dynamic has only been shown in Avengers: Infinity War. But their scenes were some of the film’s most memorable, particularly when Parker first introduces himself. Their interactions were limited, but they proved that their relationship can be further developed.

The big question is whether or not the film can happen. Marvel Studios has produced solo and team films, but they’ve yet to make a true team-up film. At this point, the closest thing they have to one is Ant-Man and the Wasp. But even those characters hail from the same corner of the MCU. Still, given the popularity of Holland’s Spider-Man and Benedict Cumberbach’s Strange, it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
