Spider-Man: Far From Home box office ascends in China
Spider-Man: Far From Home released early in China, garnering a terrific box-office total after just one night.
Spider-Man: Far From Home will not release domestically until Tuesday, July 2, despite its premiere airing for critics earlier this week. That means a long wait for those in the United States, before the first follow-up film to Avengers: Endgame arrives at a theater near them.
Far From Home had an early release internationally, however, taking flight in China.
So far, the box office results look positive for the second Spidey film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it crossed $30 million — $7 million higher than 2017’s Homecoming.
The news is obviously a positive start for Marvel Studios’ final film of 2019. It has the momentum of Captain Marvel and Endgame, both of which had billion-dollar box offices earlier this year. Whether Far From Home hits that milestone remains to be seen, but with the MCU continuing to rise after the events of its most ambitious film, it is possible.

If Far From Home accomplishes this, who knows if future MCU films can do the same? Marvel has yet to officially announce what those movies are, but Black Widow and The Eternals seem like the next calls.
Aside from the future, the present will have this Tom Holland-led film continuing to ascend. Its run at the box office is in its infancy, and the early results in China are positive for the rest of the world, including the domestic release before Independence Day.
Marvel continues to thrive with making money at the theater. How much further can they take Spider-Man: Far From Home this summer?
