The War of the Realms is nearing its end, but first a younger Thor must come to the present to help his future selves end it. Spoilers for Thor no. 14 follow.

Taking place during War of the Realms No. 6, this issue follows Young Thor, as he is brought to the present to fight alongside Odinson, King Thor, and Jane Foster. He is not yet worthy and is brash, obnoxious, and loud, but he fought with his older selves against Gorr the God Butcher. So they trust him.

The four then go, thunder in their veins, to bring the fight to Malekith. They arrive at Stonehenge with Malekith awaiting them, and the final battle begins. Odinson, King Thor, and Jane understand the fight they are in and what they’re fighting for, but the young one doesn’t. He’s reckless and causes himself to be hurt, hurting the other Thor’s, as well.

For his own well-being, King Thor brings him to the side of the battlefield. After a few moments of ponderance about whether or not he should be here, he sees a Venom symbiote gone mad and about to kill Freyja. Without thinking, he attacks the symbiote with power he had never felt before. It turns out he is wielding Mjölnir. As such, he learns what it means to be worthy.

While telling pretty much the same story, that’s being told in War of the Realms No. 6, this issue presents a different side of the story that the actual issue isn’t able to focus on. It provides more context to that issue while also building up the mythos of Thor in a fun way. This issue isn’t really a necessary read, but it’s a fun one nonetheless if you’ve been enjoying War of the Realms or are a Thor completionist.
