If a recent report is to be believed, Lady Gaga may soon be entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel Studios has tapped unexpected names for surprising roles before, such as Annette Bening as Mar-Vell and Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon. Now it seems another unexpected, but familiar, face may join Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Hollywood Life reports that Lady Gaga in negotiations to join the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. According to the trade’s source, not only is the deal close to being finalized, but Gaga would also play the love interest of Bradley Cooper’s Rocket.

Gaga and Cooper, of course, headlined the latter’s adaptation of A Star is Born, which garnered critical acclaim that was particularly at the performances of the two leads. Gaga even won the Academy Award for Best Original Song on the same night she and Cooper gave a memorable performance of the song, “Shallow.”

Through their prior work together, Gaga and Cooper have proven to have strong chemistry, and this bond could bleed into the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. They would. however, be playing vastly different characters this time around.

Director James Gunn hinted that Rocket has confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will complete Rocket Raccoon’s arc. With this, it’s possible that the gun-toting rodent could have a key role in the film. Having been the only Guardian to survive the Snap in Avengers: Infinity War, he may still be adjusting to life returning to normal. And based on the events of that film and Endgame, he may have been left with a new lease on life and ends up settling down with Gaga’s potential love interest.

It’s still too early to tell what Gunn has in store for the final chapter of his cosmic MCU trilogy but, if Gaga joins, it could shake things up.
