Spider-Man: Far From Home almost included the return of Donald Glover’s Aaron Davis.

While Spider-Man: Far From Home took Peter Parker out of New York, it still managed to bring back a number of familiar faces from the first film. There is, however, one character from Homecoming that didn’t appear, but almost had a role in the sequel.

Far From Home and Homecoming writers Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna revealed to THR that they originally considered bringing back Donald Glover’s Aaron Davis. Being fans of the character, the duo would have liked to use him again but, as McKenna explained, taking Peter out of Queens made this difficult to accomplish:

"“We definitely considered that. We definitely thought, “How great it would be to bring back Aaron Davis again.” Other considerations come in. We went down that road a little bit, then the movie really spent such little time in Queens and gets to Europe pretty quickly. Some ideas you just have to give up.”"

Sommers shared McKenna’s sentiments, admitting that there were a few things the pair wanted to do in New York before shifting the setting to Europe:

"“That’s really what it came down to. We loved that character and we wanted to do it, but we just wanted to get out of New York and get on the trip as soon as possible. There were several things we would have loved to do in New York before he left, but we just didn’t have time.”"

The writers’ desire to use Queens more prominently in Far From Home was apparent even in the film’s marketing campaign. Several scenes, such as Peter picking up his passport and fighting a crime syndicate, appeared in trailers and TV spots, but not in the final film. However, director Jon Watts has revealed that these sequences will be repurposed for a short film that will be included with the film’s home media release.

An appearance from Glover in Far From Home would have been welcome, but it’s understandable why he ultimately didn’t appear. One also has to wonder what would have caused him and the web-slinger to cross paths again.

Aaron Davis may not have made the cut this time, but there’s still a chance viewers will see him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe again. Most know he is the uncle of Miles Morales (the future Spider-Man), who has been confirmed to exist in the MCU. With this, it’s possible that Davis could play a larger role whenever Miles is brought in. This could even include him becoming his villainous alter ego, the Prowler.
