Hiram Garcia, one of the producers of Black Adam, starring Dwayne Johnson a.k.a The Rock, has provided fans with an update on the movie and director Jaume Collet-Serra.

As duly noted in an observation of the current state of the Worlds of DC post–Justice League, Aquaman made a kind of altruistic shift in the way films set within the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) are produced.

While the sequel to Wonder Woman – one of the trinity – is set for release next year, other legendary characters are up in the air, as Superman’s fate is in question and Batman has a change of face.

It’s safe to say that much remains uncertain – and one film that hasn’t had the smoothest of journeys to becoming a reality is Black Adam.

The film, set to star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has had an air of uncertainty around it for a while, but recent reports suggested that Spanish filmmaker, Jaume Collet-Serra, was tapped to direct The Rock in the headlining project.

While at the world premiere of Hobbs and Shaw, CinemaBlend interviewed frequent collaborator of Johnson and producer of the Black Adam film, Hiram Garcia. On the subject of Jaume, the President of Seven Bucks Productions responded:

"“Jaume is a real talent. He is one of my favorite directors I’ve ever worked with. Not only is he talented, he’s an unbelievable collaborator. He’s an amazing visionary. And what we have in store with Black Adam and for the fans, I am so excited inside. Inside, I take pride as being a fan boy. I started as a fan boy before I became a producer, so I hold onto that DNA.”"

Garcia then added:

"“His vision for what we want to do with Black Adam is fantastic. So, that deal’s almost closed. He’s ready to go, and I think the fans are going to be really happy.”"

Over a year ago, Johnson revealed that the Shazam! movie, helmed by David F. Sandberg, would not feature Black Adam; instead Dr. Sivana was the main antagonist, as well as The Seven Deadly Sins. Johnson also served as producer of the film and thanked all of the fans on Instagram for the tickets sold at the box office as it became a success, earning $364 million worldwide against an approx $95 million production budget.

Johnson will star as the villain–turned–anti-hero of the same name. He will also produce the motion picture alongside his former wife, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia’s Seven Bucks Prod. Beau Flynn and Scott Sheldon also are producing under Flynn Picture Co. in association with New Line Cinema and Warner Bros.
