The first trailer for Supergirl’s fifth season was officially released at San Diego Comic-Con and you check it out right here!

The Girl of Steel ascended to new heights last year when Supergirl‘s fourth season took the show into previously unexplored territory, allowing it to adopt a more realistic tone as it used its emphasis on aliens to deal with a number of political matters.

It made for an interesting social commentary of sorts, and educated viewers on some of the major issues taking place in the world at the moment.

However, it also didn’t forget that it, at its heart, it’s a superhero show and thus, it all culminated in an incredibly fun battle between Supergirl and her cousin’s archnemesis, the one and only Lex Luthor (who was played exquisitely by Jon Cryer).

That was then, however, and this is now, and with the show set to return for its fifth season, it appears that change lies ahead for the Girl of Steel.

Ahead of the cast’s appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, it was revealed that Kara was getting a new suit in Season 5, while Andrea Brooks (who plays Miss Eve Teschmacher) would be joining the cast as series regular and Supergirl vet Mechad Brooks (who plays James Olsen) would be exiting.

Of course, the main event from the Comic-Con panel was none other than the Season 5 trailer, which screened before the audience in a special video presentation. However, IGN officially unveiled it online and you can check it out below:

Like previous years, the trailer was more of a recap than anything else, showcasing what went down in the last season before unveiling some limited footage from Season 5 in its closing moments. That limited footage, however, suggests that we’re in for one hell of a season.

It’s safe to say that the friendship between Kara Danvers and Lena Luthor has never seen darker days.
