The Man Without Fear has been in Marvel Comics since 1964. Since then, he hasn’t been one for teams. Sure, he’s been on his fair share (Avengers and Defenders), but he’s more of a loaner. Even Spider-Man and Wolverine understand that you need help sometimes.
Daredevil would rather end up beaten and bloody in an alley than call someone for assistance. Most of the times people just intrude, and he gets upset that they do. It also didn’t help that he and Captain America (Steve Rogers) have issues with each other. And if Cap doesn’t like you, that’s enough to make the Avengers turn you away.
The funny thing about Daredevil is that he would make a great Avenger. Daredevil follows a strict code of not killing — something the Avengers only seem to do under the most drastic of circumstances (except Hawkeye and Black Widow). Daredevil is like Spider-Man in the sense that leaving his homefront (Hell’s Kitchen) is something he doesn’t like to do. He loves to protect his city, and everyone tends to love him for it.
Lastly, being an Avenger would take him away from his law firm. It would kill him to be away for too long. As much as people (me included) would love to see this happen, there’s a slim chance it does.
