As The Flash puts a focus on Iris’ journalistic side in Season 6, the door will be open for the introduction of new female friendships to explore!

Over the course of its first five seasons, The Flash has explored and highlighted several relationships. From romantic pairings, family dynamics, rivalries and friendships, the show has seen them all; however, some have definitely been explored more than others. Among the relationships fans have long clamored for more of has been a stronger presence of female friendships — and with Season 6 it seems they’ll finally get their wish!

Looking to staff up her newspaper, Iris will bring in several new additions to her team including a few female hires which will allow the show to introduce some new female friendships – something which has been lacking in past seasons.

"“Iris is hiring a whole team of people to get this off the ground,” The Flash star Candice Patton previewed of Iris’ efforts to build her paper in Season 6 while speaking with press at Comic-Con. “Kamilla will be shooting photography for Iris and will be back in the mix, around at the paper.  It’s definitely going to be a set and storyline we visit often in Season 6.”"

Not only will these new relationships help add some diversity to the mix, these friendships will also allow Iris to step into a new role as a mentor to these fresh additions, guiding them along and pointing them on right path.

"“There’s definitely a few females that she hires, that she definitely has a bond with. I think it’s more of like a mentor, mentee kind of relationship,” Patton continued. “These younger women that she’s kind of bringing up in the world of journalism and looking after. I think there are going to be much more of those kind of female friendships, especially in the workplace, which I’m really excited about.”"
