5. Lulu Wang

Lulu Wang is burst onto the scene at Sundance Film Festival with The Farewell. Though not her directorial debut, it does serve as her introduction to a wider audience, especially as the film continues to be released in more countries and more theaters.

The Farewell has received a lot of positive reviews, with people praising the film’s ability to translate cultural differences while also telling an emotional and heartwarming family tale.

There probably is not a more iconic family in comics than the Batman family, with the dynamics between all of the supporting characters with Batman some being good and some being bad. Many characters have come and gone, taking on the identities of Robin and Batgirl. If Cassandra Cain is the choice for Batgirl, Wang would be a good choice to take a character that struggles to adjust to life as a hero while also acclimating herself to parental figures like Oracle and Batman.

Even doing a character piece on Oracle would be an interesting approach that would make Batgirl unique in the DCEU.

Depending on how The Farewell does in the awards circuit, Wang could be an indie darling type that Warner Bros. could hire to see what she could do with a bigger budget and with higher expectations.
