2. Elizabeth Banks

Elizabeth Banks is another caveat choice. The Charlie’s Angels reboot is set to release this November, marking another female-led movie for Banks in her young, directorial career.

More from DCEU

She previously directed Pitch Perfect 2, which was a great follow-up to the original Pitch Perfect. Charlie’s Angels will be a bigger test for Banks, however, as she will have to reboot a fairly beloved franchise. Similar to Niki Caro, the success of Charlie’s Angels could be a career gamechanger for Banks to direct more big franchise movies like Batgirl.

Unlike Batman, the supporting characters of the Batman Family are less brooding, more cheerful and show more of their comedic, lighthearted side. A lighter and more comedic tone would be a perfect vehicle for Banks, who showed in Pitch Perfect 2 that she has the ability to direct a fun comedy, and Charlie’s Angels appears to be her attempt in the action-comedy genre.

The success of Charlie’s Angels will also show that she can handle studio budgets and collaboration, as well. For Warner Bros., if they choose to go with an unknown actress to play Barabara Gordon, they could hire Banks as a big name to attract casual audiences to Batgirl.
