With Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD concluding with season 7 next year, ABC is in talks to bring a new female Marvel superhero show to their network.

With the sixth season of Agents of SHIELD having come to an end and the seventh and final season set to air on ABC next year, the network is naturally working on benefiting from more of Marvel’s IP by overlooking their library of characters. Deadline has revealed that the network in “active talks” to bring a female Marvel superhero to the network.

There had been previous talk of a show that centred on an all-female group of superheroes with special abilities, but that was rejected by ABC Studios months ago.

The superhero drama, developed by Wonder Woman co-writer Allan Heinberg, remained a mystery, as full details were never revealed. It was co-produced by Jeph Loeb of Marvel Television.

This project, however, is set to focus on a singular heroine.  ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke said:

"“I have spoken to Marvel and we are in active talks about one project in particular.”"

She said that the character, in particular, would be “something brand new, mostly,” and Deadline theorized on the possibility of it being characters such as Danielle Moonstar and She-Hulk (who is rumored to have a Disney Plus show in development).

ABC, had to be fair, some missed opportunities they could have explored in the past. One of them was Marvel’s Most Wanted, a scrapped spin-off featuring the characters from Agents of SHIELD, Barbara “Bobbi” Morse (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood).

Bobbi Morse, who is the MCU adaptation of Mockingbird from the comics, would have been a decent character and ABC could have allowed the spin-off to run when the main show was on hiatus, but it is too little too late.

Another character primed for a spin-off would be Daisy “Skye” Johnson/Quake (Chloe Bennet) – assuming she survives the events of Agents of SHIELD season 7 next year – as she’s not only popular, she can stand on her own. What if she reinstated the Secret Warriors program? It could definitely make for great TV.
