Titans season 2: Anna Diop’s evolving look as Starfire

Anna Diop who portrays Kory Anders/Koriand’r a.k.a Starfire in DC’s Titans revealed a new look for season 2. We examine her wardrobe and journey.

With little under a month to go before the new season of Titans drops on the DC Universe platform, actress Anna Diop, who portrays Kory Anders (a.k.a. Starfire) on the show, gave fans a glimpse of her new look after celebrating the fact that she surpassed 200K followers on Instagram.

Prior to this, Diop also revealed her new hairstyle via her own Instagram, highlighting what Starfire’s hair may look like in the new season. Gone are the magenta, frizzy curls and in their place are sleeker, wavy strands. Her hair color is also a lot darker and maroon in shade.

In fact, this look is quite reminiscent of the style Kory had when she joined the FBI in the dreamscape that Trigon (Seamus Dever) placed Dick Grayson under.

Before the release of the show’s first season in October of last year, some trolls were critical of Diop, spouting a lot of vitriol against her after set photos prematurely revealed the character’s outfit. This led to the actress understandably shutting off the comment section on her Instagram – before silencing critics with her strong performance on the show.

In this feature article, I will first break down the overall attire of each of Starfire’s looks in season 1, look closely at the preview of her new look for season 2 and then predict if there will be any further styles that she will adopt throughout the sophomore season of Titans.

When we first met Koriand’r, she was suffering from amnesia and on the run, trying to find answers and relying on little more than her instincts – which ultimately allowed her to discover that Rachel Roth was who she was seeking.

The first outfit she sported was a brown fur coat over a purple dress with decorated markings. Kory also wore a gold bracelet with a green gem and knee-high boots.

During episode 6, Kory switched things up ever-so-slightly, wearing a shinier one-piece outfit that maintained the purple theme (but lighter), and paired this look with some killer heels. By the end of the season in the penultimate episode, she had ditched the fur coat completely and donned an all-black one-piece bodysuit with the bracelet exposed.

My theory of Kory’s look in season 2 is that before the battle with Trigon, she may change into the suit that was seen in the preview – most likely during the premiere. It is a top with pants that maintains the character’s signature purple theme with gold and green necklace and a belt buckle to match.

I reckon there could be one or two more looks during the course of Titans season 2 that she will wear while taking on the bad guys: something more akin to the DC Rebirth design, which shows more skin but has more white/gray accents and knee-high purple boots.
