Kelly Thompson and Chris Bachalo to relaunch Deadpool
By Alex Widen
The Merc With A Mouth is getting relaunched with a brand new creative team.
Deadpool is at it again, and with a new creative team!
As reported by Comic Book Resources, Marvel Comics announced several new titles for November, and among them is the relaunch of Deadpool by the fresh team of Kelly Thompson and Chris Bachalo!
According to the premise, Deadpool’s latest mercenary mission has him going after the so called “King of the Monsters,” who has set up shop in Staten Island. There will be “political intrigue, monster law, and a monster hunter out for blood!” With a tagline like that, could Blade or Kraven the Hunter be far behind?
Kelly Thompson and Chris Bachalo are working on a solo Deadpool series for the first time. Thompson signed an exclusive contract with Marvel at the start of the year and her credits for the publisher include A-Force, Hawkeye, West Coast Avengers, and Mr. & Mrs. X. She currently writes Captain Marvel, which has quickly become her best selling title.
Bachalo, on the other hand, has been an active artist for both Marvel and DC since 1990. He’s best known for runs on Shade: The Changing Man, Uncanny X-Men (twice), Death, and Generation X.

Deadpool was created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld in 1991’s New Mutants No. 98. Inspired by Wolverine, Spider-Man, and DC’s Deathstroke, he continued to rise in popularity during the 1990s and 2000s.
Ryan Reynolds has portrayed the hero in three films within the past decade, and both of his titular cinematic productions provided rare hits for Fox Studios before its purchase by Disney. Deadpool is arguably one of few mainstream Marvel comic book characters created after the 1970s to attain such success.
The character even commanded 4-5 comic book appearances a month during his peak several years ago. Things have toned down considerably since then, and this series represents one of fewer places to find the Merc With A Mouth this November.
Other new launches include a relaunch of a Morbius the Living Vampire series, and more X-Men books by Robert Hickman.
