Jupiter’s Legacy set photos reveal Josh Duhamel as The Utopian
Transformers actor Josh Duhamel is set to play The Utopian in Jupiter’s Legacy adapted from the Mark Millar and Frank Quietly comic book series.
There has been coverage regarding set photos of Jupiter’s Legacy, a Netflix adaptation of the Mark Millar and Frank Quietly comic book series of the same name. Transformers star Josh Duhamel has been spotted on set in the role of Sheldon Sampson (a.k.a The Utopian.) He is barely recognizable in those published images, wearing a white suit with a red cape. As The Utopian, the actor has been seen wearing a long, gray wig and beard. The character seemed to be facing a female supervillain.
Jupiter’s Legacy is about a generation of superheroes that was clearly influenced by Roman mythology, as the name Jupiter is derived from Latin meaning “sky father” and is named after a sky and thunder god that is the equivalent of the Greek god Zeus.
The comic series, which is published by Image Comics under the creator-owned Millarworld imprint, has ties to superheroes and their connection to the American Dream, capitalism and Millar’s own reaction to the Great Recession during the late 2000s and 2010s.

Sheldon, a true patriot of the early 20th century, lost everything during the Wall Street Crash of 1929 and in1932, sailed to a mysterious island 600 miles west of Cape Verde along with his brother Walter, Grace Kennedy, Richard Conrad, Fitz and George Hutchence, with the belief that the island holds gifts that will return the United States to greatness after it came to Sheldon in a dream. Somehow the island granted his college friends and future wife extraordinary abilities, and they became a group of superheroes known as The Union.

Joining the cast with Josh Duhamel are Ben Daniels, Leslie Bibb, Elena Kampouris, Andrew Horton, Mike Wade, and Matt Lanter. The show was developed by Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Dan McDermott are executive producers.
