2. Wonder Woman ’77

Portrayed by: Lynda Carter

Gal Gadot may have finally brought DC’s Amazonian Warrior to the big screen in 2017 but, for many, the definitive version of Wonder Woman will always be the legendary Lynda Carter. Without a doubt the most recognisable iteration of the character, Carter entertained viewers from 1975 until 1979 on the ABC/CBS TV series.

The show was undoubtedly a classic, taking on a surprisingly mature approach for a comic book-inspired show of the time, and catapulted Carter to superstardom and right into the hearts of so many fans all over the world. And, to be quite honest, it’s unlikely that Wonder Woman would be the heavy-hitter that she is today without her iconic portrayal.

Of course, like Helen Slater’s Supergirl, Wonder Woman’s arrival in the Arrowverse would be rather easy to pull off as Carter currently recurs on Supergirl as President Olivia Marsdin. Moreover, given that the Arrowverse has made reference to Wonder Woman on a number of occasions, we know that at least a version of her exists, so it would actually make sense to introduce Carter’s version.

While there may be a few logistical things to work out, such as explaining how the character aged (given how, in the TV series, she never aged between 1945 and 1977) and whether or not the Arrowverse is allowed to actually call her by her actual name, it would be worth it just to pay tribute to Lynda Carter’s legendary Wonder Woman.
