A couple of months after a new creative team was hired to undertake The Flash movie, Ezra Miller “absolutely confirmed” it is still happening.

Everyone has made fun of the irony that a comic book character dubbed The Fastest Man Alive is having a hard time getting a breakneck pace towards the silver screen. In a recent interview with W Korea, Ezra Miller stated that The Flash and Fantastic Beasts 3 are “absolutely confirmed” before mentioning some other creative projects he is involved in.

Beforehand, it was confirmed from a source over at Variety that the actor currently playing the big-screen adaptation of Barry Allen/The Flash will be available after he finishes shooting Fantastic Beasts 3. It is not currently known when shooting will begin, although pre-production is set to begin January 2020 for The Flash.

More from DCEU

This comes after Miller and Grant Morrison’s script was rejected by the bigwigs at Warner Bros. simply due to a direction the company simply do not wish to take. This would make them the fourth creative team to date. It director Andy Muschietti and Birds of Prey scribe, Christina Hodson entered negotiations to direct and write a new draft of the script, respectively. Barbara Muschietti, the sister of the aforementioned Argentine-born director was also brought in to produce the film.

Set for release at some point in 2021, provided Muschietti is pleased with the script Hodson is penning, hopefully, filming can begin at some point during 2020 for a September or October 2021 release. If not, then perhaps the back end of winter or spring 2022 could be the right slot. At this point, Muschietti is busy with promotions for It Chapter Two, so we may not hear anything in the coming months.

The Muschietti siblings and Hodson are the latest creative team following Miller’s dissatisfaction with the take writing-directing duo Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley brought to the table, which would have featured a lighter tone for the project. After this, he brought in a comic legend in Morrison to co-write his own script. Other notable directors that have since exited the production are Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa.
