Sean Gunn discusses an aerial scene that was cut from the final battle sequence in Avengers: Endgame.

Avengers: Endgame’s final battle was filled with memorable moments, from Captain America declaring “Avengers Assemble” to the superheroines joining forces. But with so much going, some things were bound to be left on the cutting room floor. And thanks to Sean Gunn, we now know at least one notable scene was left out.

Gunn, who has served as the on-set stand-in for Rocket Raccoon revealed to Screen Rant that his other character, Kraglin, had a scene in Endgame. According to the actor, the scene would have featured Kraglin fighting in the sky, using the fin and arrow he inherited from Yondu:

"“All I can tell you is really what we shot. Obviously, some of the fragment footage was cut from the final battle for good reason. From a narrative standpoint, they didn’t want to cut to the Battle of the Sky, which makes sense, but I all I can say is that Kraglin was wearing his fin. He had the Yaka arrow on him, but it was sheathed and remained sheathed.”"

Kraglin didn’t appear in the completed film, but the Ravagers, his group of eccentric (and honorable) mercenaries, were among the hundreds that came to the Avengers’ aid during Endgame’s third act. This left some fans a bit surprised the character didn’t appear on screen. However, we now know he was indeed set to make an appearance.

The last time audiences saw Kraglin was during a post-credits scene in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, during which he was learning to use the fin and Yaka arrow. It sounds as though he would have been more skilled in using the weapons in Endgame.

Seeing Kraglin put his new abilities to use during the fight against Thanos would have been exciting. However, it may have been best that directors Joe and Anthony Russo chose to leave it out. With so much already happening during the fan-favorite fight, using the footage may have seemed excessive to the two filmmakers.

Fans of Kraglin won’t have to worry though, as the new leader of the Ravagers will likely return in the third installment of Guardians of the Galaxy. And they can bet director James Gunn has some interesting plans in store for his brother’s character.
