Agents of SHIELD star will be joining the highly anticipated Star Wars Disney Plus series that has Jon Favreau at the helm.

Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed at the D23 Expo that Ming-Na Wen will be joining The Mandalorian cast. Wen is a stable at Disney having voiced Mulan in the classic animated film and is a current star in Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. She will be one of the very few actors to take on roles in Disney’s top animated and live-action projects over the course of their career.

Deadline reported the news from Disney’s annual Disney Legends event:

"Ming-Na was one of the honorees for today’s annual Disney Legends honors, which this year also went to Wing Chao, Robert Downey Jr., Jon Favreau, James Earl Jones, Bette Midler, Kenny Ortega, Barnette Ricci, Robin Roberts, Diane Sawyer and Hans Zimmer.“Please just keep acquiring all these different franchises,” she said during her speech, turning to Iger, “because I just keep getting employed by them. I have hit every bucket list thanks to Disney.”"

There is no confirmation on Wen’s character just yet. The news does come at a convenient time for her, as Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD is set to end after its upcoming seventh season. She will be joining a very interesting cast in a series that could possibly kickstart a live-action Star Wars universe.

The Mandalorian is a Disney Plus series that is set to be released on Nov. 12, the same day the Disney Plus streaming service is set to launch. Obviously, Disney is hoping the series will make a big splash not only by using a Star Wars property but also having creator Jon Favreau, who has had success with Iron Man and recently with The Lion King, especially with its box office take.

The Mandalorian will star Pedro Pascal as the mysterious titular character. Alongside Pascal will be a cast of Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog and Nick Nolte. The eight episodes of the series will be directed by Dave Filoni, Deborah Chow, Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard and Taika Waititi.
