Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel is heading to Disney Plus in a live-action TV series.

Marvel Studios has already announced several limited series for its Phase Four slate, which are slated to air on Disney Plus. Now, it looks like the studio is about to add another, and it will focus on a fan-favorite heroine.

THR reports that Marvel Studios is currently developing a live-action TV series centered on Kamala Khan, who fans know as Ms. Marvel. According to the trade, the studio has tapped British writer Bisha K. Ali to write and take on showrunner duties. At this point, Marvel hasn’t officially confirmed the series, but there’s a chance the project will be announced during their panel at the Disney D23 Expo this weekend.

While Ali has no first-hand experience in the superhero genre, she has a background in comedy and is now serving as a staff writer on Hulu’s Four Weddings and a Funeral. Her credits as a comedian and writer should mesh well with the humorous nature of Kamala Khan.

Studio head Kevin Feige previously confirmed that the studio had plans for Kamala Khan at some point in the future and, shortly after the announcement, stars like Mindy Kaling expressed interest in getting involved in the project. Kaling even confirmed that Marvel doing something on Disney Plus was a possibility.

With Carol Danvers now leading the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the big screen, it makes sense that her protégé wouldn’t be too far behind. It’s incredibly possible that Kamala Khan could make her way to the big screen in the near future. This could include either an appearance in a Captain Marvel film or a Young Avengers movie.
