James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad looks to be adding yet another member to its ever-growing group of misfits.

In an exclusive for Deadline, Taika Waititi appears to be in talks to join the cast of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

According to the report, there’s no news about how big a role he would be playing within the film or even what the role would (similar to Nathan Fillion’s recently announced role). Reportedly, there is a table read set for September 11, with production on The Suicide Squad set to begin on September 23.

This wouldn’t be the first comic book role that the Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder director would be tackling though. In both Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame, Waititi portrayed Korg – a being made out of rocks that becomes Thor’s very humorous, Fornite-loving friend.

In addition to taking on another comic book character, if Waititi does indeed join the cast of The Suicide Squad, he would be the fourth member of the MCU to make the jump to DC after James Gunn, Djimon Honsou, David Dastmalchian (and fifth if you count Nathan Fillion).

As of now though, even without joining the cast of The Suicide Squad, Waititi looks to have his schedule pretty full. His latest film, the satirical Jojo Rabbit, is set to be released on October 18, and he is also busy working on his next offering Next Goal Wins.

Waititi reportedly will be diving more into his next Marvel film, Thor: Love and Thunder, early next year. Waititi also voices IG-11 in Disney+’s upcoming series The Mandalorian as well as having directed an episode of the show.

In addition to all of the above, he currently serves as an executive producer on the FX series What We Do in the Shadows and even directed three episodes of the first season.
