24. Angel/Archangel

Warren Worthington the third is one of the original X-Men. He used to be a pretty boy with fluffy wings that sometimes had a bazooka. If we’re going to be honest, he wasn’t interesting and we weren’t given a reason to care about him. He didn’t fight and being a rich guy wasn’t appealing to anyone. Then, he became a Horseman of Apocalypse.

That was the moment where he started to become a more compelling character. His Death persona never truly left him. It’s embedded in his DNA. Warren has to continuously fight to keep that side in check. Sometimes, he fails. One time he almost succeeded in becoming the next Apocalypse and ruling the world (Uncanny X-Force).

It was difficult finding a place to put Warren Worthington. However, it’s his Archangel personality that ranks him at all. Worthington had some incredible moments on the X-Force teams in the last decade. It’ll be delightful to see what they do with him in the comics going forward.

The chance of a good Archangel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is also appealing. The Four Horsemen of Apocalypse is a fan favorite story. If they get this right, the visual alone will be enough to get people to watch. Don’t be shocked if that’s his intro to the MCU. We don’t need to see much of the Angel wings.
