The Suicide Squad adds Peter Capaldi; hopes to add Pete Davidson
Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi is set to join James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad as Saturday Night Live’s Pete Davidson is in talks to also join the cast.
Deadline is reporting that Doctor Who actor Peter Capaldi will be joining the large cast of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. They also report that Saturday Night Live’s Pete Davidson is in talks for a small cameo in the movie. Davidson is expected to shoot scenes in between breaks on Saturday Night Live.

"Cast to date for The Suicide Squad includes Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag) as well as new castmembers Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian (Polka-Dot Man), Daniela Melchior (Ratcatcher), Flula Borg, Steve Agee (King Shark, reported exclusively by us yesterday), Nathan Fillion and Taika Waititi. Gunn wrote the script to The Suicide Squad. Chuck Roven and Peter Safran are producing. EP is Nik Korda."
There is a lot still unknown about The Suicide Squad. It has not been confirmed by Warner Bros. or Gunn on whether this movie will serve as a sequel or reboot to David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. All that can be confirmed so far is that the movie is set for a 2021 release with Gunn writing and directing the movie.
What fans can point to is that The Suicide Squad has added a lot of established talent: Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, Nathan Fillion and now Capaldi. Capaldi is former Oscar and BAFTA winner and his role as The Doctor in Doctor Who has been well-received by many fans.

It’s unknown who Capaldi and many of the other cast members will play. Those that have been confirmed, with the exception of the returning cast members, have been very obscure which fits with James Gunn’s previous gig in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.
Some devoted comic book fans will have some knowledge of King Shark, but there are few fans that have a vast knowledge of characters like Polka-Dot Man and Ratcatcher. The inclusion of these characters is undoubtedly exciting and will make things all the more unpredictable in The Suicide Squad.
