WandaVision set to be a mashup of American sitcoms and Marvel films

At the recently-concluded D23 Expo, the cast of WandaVision described what this Disney Plus show is going to be like.
At the recently-concluded D23 Expo, the first poster for the Disney Plus show WandaVision was released. The teaser immediately set tongues a-wagging with its retro domestic vibe.
Starring Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/ Scarlet Witch and Paul Bettany as Vision, the Marvel Cinematic Universe spin-off seems far removed from anything fans have witnessed before.
This new direction was confirmed by the cast when speaking to EW at the Expo. Bettany called WandaVision “bonkers”, while Olsen described it as:
"“It is a mash-up between American sitcoms throughout the decades and Marvel film with these characters.”"
Ever since the show was announced, fans have been wondering how and where the story fits in the MCU timeline. Wanda was last seen as one of the resurrected Fallen in Avengers: Endgame, but Vision was effectively killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. So how are these two characters back together?
During the EW interview, Olsen mentioned that WandaVision will explore some of the comic book storylines that the Marvel films have been unable to so far.
Many are hoping for an adaptation of House of M, which saw Wanda reach a breaking point in her mental health – after using her reality manipulating powers to effectively strip almost all mutants of their powers, Wanda created a blissful family life for herself with a resurrected Vision and their children in the comics. Could WandaVision examine that aspect of the character?

Considering how much Wanda has lost and suffered since she walked out that door in Sokovia and became an Avenger, it would not be a surprise if returning from the Blip without Vision impacts her both mentally and emotionally.
Is it enough for Wanda to create a faux life of domesticity set in ‘simpler’ times like the 1950s? It’s been established that she is far more powerful than the MCU films have given her credit for, and therefore it wouldn’t be outside the realm of her imagination to actually create her own world with her dead partner.
Every new nugget of information makes WandaVision sound more exciting and less formulaic than any MCU property we’ve seen before. With the addition of veteran comic actors Kathryn Hahn, Kat Dennings and Randall Park in the mix, this show promises to be an off-kilter comedy that should keep all of us fans at the edge of our seats.
Disney Plus will launch in the US and Canada on November 12. No release date has been announced for WandaVision as yet. Are you excited for the show? Let us know in the comments below!
