The Flash showrunner teases more baddies to come this season
Showrunner Eric Wallace is packing The Flash season 6 with more villains and a special guest star.
Ever since The Flash went on hiatus between the legacy–centric fifth season and the impending sixth season, the villains have been points of speculation, about which ones might actually appear? At the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, the Big Bad for the first half of season 6 was revealed to be Ramsey Russo a.k.a Bloodwork (Sendhil Ramamurthy) in the first trailer for the upcoming season. And last month, Godspeed (B.D. Wong) was confirmed to appear once again.
A lot of things in season 6 are set to keep the self-proclaimed Fastest Man Alive busy, including the major catastrophe, “Crisis on Infinite Earths”, set to come five years earlier than expected. Due to meddling of the timeline, there are consequences — grave ones, which are set to upset the balance of the cosmos.
In an exclusive interview with TVLine, showrunner Eric Wallace, who took over from Todd Helbing, explained what is set to take place on The Flash. Barry Allen/The Flash (Grant Gustin), Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton) and the rest of Team Flash will come to discover “the future is today” and things will turn upside down, affecting each character in their own way, particularly Iris. He also mentioned that one or two additional villains, including a special guest star, will pop up during the first third of the season.

Bloodwork is fairly new to Flash lore, even more recent compared to Godspeed. Created by Joshua Williamson, Pop Mhan and Christian Duce, Russo appeared in The Flash: Rebirth No.25 as a forensic scientist for the CCPD. A hemophiliac, Russo experimented with several individuals’ (presumably metahuman) blood types and transformed into his plasma-infested alter-ego. For the show, Russo’s job description was switched to hematologist, with a “really great relationship” with Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker). Whether or not he will become the big, grotesque, blood monster is not known.
Any guess as to who are the other two bad guys? There’s a good chance Reverse-Flash one of them, but the other is anyone’s guess. A big clue would have something to do with the crimson skies and apparent Shadow Demons from prior appearances of the future newspaper.
